Eagles Bring in Veteran DT Ndamukong Suh
The Eagles’ run defense has been a little bit exposed of late. And with injuries to DT Jordan Davis and Marlon Tuipulotu, they needed some reinforcements at the interior of the defensive line. They already added Linval Joseph, but it seems they weren’t done there. Because now they have also signed Ndamukong Suh according to Ian Rappoport.
The rich get richer. The #Eagles are signing free agent DT Ndamukong Suh to a 1-year, sources say, beefing up their defensive front with a top free agent. They want to keep the DL a strength. The deal has been agreed to and is done. pic.twitter.com/0Egc4V8Hiu

The 12-year veteran most recently played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the past 3 seasons. Before that, he spent time with the Rams, the Dolphins, and of course started his career with the Lions. Suh has 70.5 sacks in his career, including 6 in each of the past two seasons. He did not sign with anyone in the offseason, but at 35 years old he will now continue his season with the Eagles.
Suh has racked up at least double-digit Qb hits in every season of his career. With the one exception of his sophomore season. He joins an Eagles team that had become light at DT after a few injuries. Fletcher Cox was forced to play a high amount of snaps this past week vs Washington and looked clearly fatigued by the end of the game. The additions of Joseph and Suh should take some heat off the Eagles’ veteran DT.
It is unclear yet if Suh and Joseph will be able to step in immediately. Both players are in their mid 30’s and had not played Football yet this year. So they may need some time to work back into game shape. But we should learn some more of their status for Sunday’s game closer to Sunday’s game vs the Colts. They could certainly use the help, with a matchup vs top RB Jonathan Taylor up next. And they are just a few weeks from getting rookie Jordan Davis back who went on the IR before the Texans game. The Eagles hope these two signings will help stuff up the gaps for the run defense after two straight weeks where they gave up over 150 yards on the ground.
