John Tortorella Discusses His Teams Slow Starts To Games
The Flyers have had an uneven start to the season. There have been some great comebacks. But with those comebacks, it also means they have had some slow starts to games. And to talk about those issues, Head Coach John Tortorella joined The Anthony Gargano show. John and Anthony discuss those slow starts and more. Here is some of what John Tortorella had to say today.
On What He Takes Away From the Comebacks his Team is Making…
“I see growth, we have to get our starts figured out. We are playing from behind too much. But I see some resiliency in the club. Even though we don’t want to be there, I think we are comfortable when we are down. W have been down enough, we are used to it. And we find a way. Only get one point last night. Played in spurts. I don’t think we played a complete game. But found a way to get a point. But what I am thing is how can we get a better start so we don’t fall behind as much.”
On Playing Complete Games and Starting Slow…
“I’m not sure if any team in this league plays a full 60 minutes. I always think there are momentum swings and some struggles. We need our first 20, or maybe our first 10 to be better. Just so we are not chasing. It wears you down. If you are chasing games as much as we are it is going to catch up with you sooner or later, because it wears you down. I think they are trying. But to be honest with you, I just don’t think we started with enough energy. That is something we can control, and I don’t think we started with enough energy.”
