CT’s Top 3: Takeaways From The Eagles’ 7th Straight Win
The Philadelphia Eagles are 9-2. They didn’t reach that mark quietly. It was a dominant 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams that seems to have cemented them as an upper-echelon team in the NFL right now. Honestly, what do you even say about this team? They do just about everything well that you need to see from a championship contender.
Obviously we were fired up on Kincade And Salciunas this morning, so it won’t be hard at all for me to give my top 3 takeaways from last night’s action. In fact, it’s more of a struggle to keep it to just 3.
1. Saquon Barkley is the NFL MVP
At least if the season ended today. Yes, I know it has become a QB award. But anyone who saw last night’s performance by Barkley, on top of what he’s already done this season for the Eagles, and doesn’t think he’s the MVP right now? Well, you don’t know ball. 255 yards on the ground, 2 TDs, 302 scrimmage yards. Need I say more?
2. The defense is legit
Ok, so MAYBE you could’ve predicted Saquon having a career year. Nobody, though, believed this defense could play at this level this often. Nobody, that is, besides Vic Fangio.
The veteran Defensive Coordinator has created a complete 180 from last year, and holding the Rams to only 20 points is just the latest example. It should’ve probably even been fewer points if not for a few phantom penalties. They do everything well, and they do it week in and week out.
3. The Brandon Graham loss is a huge one
The only real sour note of the night was a big one. Brandon Graham was having a monster game, and social media was abuzz with pleas for him to never retire. Then, in a blink, he was surrounded by trainers and heading back to the locker room. It’s a torn triceps for Graham, ending his season, and at his age, possibly his career. Even just looking at this season, the Eagles were already thin on the edge with Bryce Huff out. Howie Roseman has his work cut out for him once again to find a solution.
