Adam Schefter Shocked By Negativity Around 5-2 Eagles
The Eagles were 10-1 at one point last year. They won just 1 game the rest of the year. So it would be understandable if Eagles fans suffered a little PTSD when it comes to good starts for their team.
That said, the Eagles are 5-2 to open this season. They have outscored their opponent 65-20 in the last 2 weeks. Were those great opponents? No, but the Bengals have a good offense, and the Giants have a good defense. Both of those teams have kept it close with most teams, but the Eagles ran right over them.
Yet still some fans and media seem slow to be positive about them. It has been less negative this week, but it still feels like there is a creeping doubt. Something keeping us from being truly positive about this team, and their chances to win something.
Adam Schefter is Confused By Negativity Around Eagles
Adam Schefter joined Kincade and Salciunas this morning and was a bit taken aback by the negativity he has seen around the team.
I feel like it is the lingering pain of last season. But there is good reason to believe this is not like last year. Last year they never beat teams the way they just beat the Bengals and Giants. Every single one of those 10 wins over the first 11 games had to be scratched out. It was nothing but nail-biters. Eventually, things spiraled out of control.
But this is a different team. There is a lot of new talent in the building, Saquon Barkley, and Quinyon Mitchell/ Cooper DeJean on defense. They have two experienced coordinators in the building. Plus there is far more athletics and speed on the defensive side.
None of this is to say they are going to win a Super Bowl. But we shouldn’t be waiting for the other shoe to drop. This team is playing well right now. There is good reason to think they will keep playing well. The schedule is very manageable, with only 4 games left vs winning teams.
So enjoy the Eagles for now. If things go wrong, be negative then. But right now they are giving you no reason to be concerned. They are clicking on all cylinders, and that is worth being positive about.
