CT’s Top 3: Coaching Questions For The Philadelphia Eagles
With football season (unofficially) beginning tomorrow, I’ll be starting a new daily Mon-Fri feature: CT’s Top 3. Each list will be based on a conversation we have on Kincade And Salciunas, and of course, our first edition is Eagles-centric. As the team prepares to report to training camp, there are still plenty of questions about the coaching staff, leading to an incredibly interesting relationship between Nick Sirianni and his new coordinators, Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio.
So, with a situation so unique, what are the biggest 3 questions Eagles fans should have ahead of the 2024 season when it comes to the coaching staff?
Connor’s 3 Big Questions About The Eagles Coaching Staff
1.) How involved is Nick Sirianni going to be?
This is easily the biggest question ahead of training camp for me when it comes to the Eagles. Sirianni has reportedly taken a step back in responsibility this season, but will he be able to give new Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore room to work, or will he attempt to continue an approach that did not pay dividends for the Eagles offense last season?
2.) Does Vic Fangio’s system actually work?
Shoutout to Ray Dunne on this one, but there should be a healthy amount of skepticism about the “Bend Don’t Break” defensive style after a rough year around the NFL in 2023 for Fangio disciples. Now, though, you have the man who pioneered the system. If there’s anyone who can prove this style of defense can still work, it’s the man who essentially created it.
If it doesn’t, then where does that leave the birds’ new defensive coordinator? Not in a great place, that’s for sure.
3.) Can Kellen Moore find 2022 Jalen Hurts?
There has been a lot of commentary about Moore’s track record at putting Quarterbacks in position to succeed in his offensive scheme, but this may be his most important task yet. No town is more scrutinizing of their QB than Philadelphia, and Jalen Hurts is at a career crossroads. Is he more the 2022, NFC winning, MVP-caliber player, or the good not great type of signal caller that we saw last year and in 2021? A lot of that answer will depend on what Moore does to put him in the best position to succeed.
