The Eagles Make Landon Dickerson The Highest Paid Guard In NFL History
Free agency hasn’t begun just yet, but the Eagles are already making moves. They signed Left Guard Landon Dickerson to a 4-year extension, keeping him with the team through the 2028 season. The Eagles announced the news themselves this morning a few hours before the Legal tampering period began. Per Ian Rapoport, the deal is for $84 million, with a chance for it to become $87 million, $50 million of which is guaranteed. At $21 million per year, he becomes the highest-paid guard in NFL history.

The Eagles drafted Landon Dickerson in the 2nd round of the 2021 draft with the belief he would one day replace Jason Kelce at center. But in his rookie season, he was forced to step in when Isaac Seumalo was injured. Dickerson played so well at LG, that the plans changed. They named him the starter there going forward, moving Seumalo to the right side, and forcing the Eagles to draft Cam Jurgens the next year.
It is sometimes hard to define just how good an Offensive Lineman is. They don’t have traditional counting stats like WRs, QBs, and RBs do. but Dickerson is as good as it gets. In 2023 he led all interior linemen in Run Block Win Rate, and was 7th in Pass Block Win Rate. Dickerson and Jordan Mailata made for a dominant force on the left side, especially as run blockers. A lot of credit for the Tush Push goes to Jason Kelce and Jalen Hurts. But on his podcast, Kelce gave most of the credit to Dickerson and Mailata.
It is one of two extensions the Eagles are expected to work on this off-season. The other one being Devonta Smith. They were the Eagles 1st and 2nd round picks in 2021, which now seems to be one of their best draft classes in recent m memory. They now have at least one of those guys locked up for 5 more seasons.
