Jalen Hurts Won’t Be An Issue in 2024 For The Eagles
There is this new lazy take coming from national media frauds that Jalen Hurts will somehow hold the Eagles back. There are some questions about Jalen Hurts right now, but we should be wary of the messengers, especially former fraud Eagles’ players who have an axe to grind.
I feel very confident that Hurts will be excellent in 2024. Right now, people are saying the Eagles will be successful because of the offense, by the end of the year, they will be saying it is because of Hurts.
Jalen Hurts In 2023
Last year the Eagles’ offense was not as good as it should have been, and Jalen Hurts does deserve some blame for that. He threw 15 interceptions in the 17 games, after throwing 15 total in his previous 30 starts.
Despite throwing the ball 78 more passes in 2023 compared to 2022, he threw just 1 more TD pass. Hurts was still a force in the red zone rushing. Yes, he wasn’t as good in between the 20’s, but that is much more on Nick Sirianni than him.
The fumbles are on Hurts though, and the 9 fumbles to go with the 15 interceptions were too many. He is aware of that and will tighten it up because this is what he does. He works on his weaknesses. While those who defend Sirianni will use the fact he has been in the playoffs the last 3 years, they ignore it with Hurts.
He Will Be Better In 2024
Looking ahead to 2024, Hurts & the Eagles will have their 3rd offensive coordinator in 3 years. There will be a learning curve early. They also added Saquon Barkley, which will take some pressure off Hurts, if he is used properly.
He has the best WR tandem in the NFL with AJ Brown and Devonta Smith. He will not have to work as hard to make both guys happy with touches because both got paid in the offseason. This sets up for Hurts to have his best year.
The Eagles’ single-season franchise record for passing yards is still held by Carson Wentz with 4,039 yards. (Wentz did that with his top WR being Alshon Jeffrey with 490 yards, not bad) I think Hurts will smash that record and throw a career-high 4,300 yards. I think he also sets a career-high with 30 TD passes as well.
His rushing TDs will drop with Saquon here, but that won’t matter because the Eagles will win the division. Jalen Hurts is not the problem with Eagles (duh), & he will make the haters mad in January.
