Dreaming Up A Trip To See the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil
When I travel with Philadelphia Eagles fans, my choice has been Philly Sports Trips. They are already hard at work securing hotel rooms and a first class experience for the fans who want to see the Eagles 2024 season opener in Brazil.
If you are a traveler who likes to make your own plans, it’s best to get on it before costs escalate. Here are a few examples of what this trip could cost you if you’re going it alone.
Time Difference
Sao Paulo, Brazil is just two hours ahead of Philadelphia. Jet lag shouldn’t be an issue, though a hangover might very well be a part of your travel schedule.
Airfare
You have two very solid options. You can fly out of Philadelphia or Newark, New Jersey. Flying early in the week and returning on Saturday after the game on Friday night September 6th is still relatively affordable.
- Round Trip Coach from Philadelphia to Sao Paulo, Brazil with one layover will run you $1,355.
- Round Trip Coach from Newark, NJ to Sao Paulo, Brazil direct flights will run you $1,555.
With baggage fees and seat selection costs, a good estimate is between $1,450 and $1,650 airfare.
Hotels
There is a fine selection of hotels and with an average three to four night stays available. You have options:
- THREE STAR HOTELS – $280 to $330 a night
- FOUR STAR HOTELS – $350 to $450 a night
- FIVE STAR HOTELS – $650 to $700 a night
Language Barrier
You better bone up on your Portuguese. Don’t be too concerned as at most major hotels you will have someone able to communicate with you in English. A translator app is suggested if you want to shop and dine like a local.
Things To Do In Sao Paolo
The city has an amazing cultural center. There are art and history museums. The museum celebrating what they call “football” is one of the best in the world. They have their own version of the Reading Terminal Market. A shopping district is one of the primary visitor locations in the city.
Hit the Beach
Sao Paulo is located roughly an hour drive away from the coastline. This isn’t a beach city. You will have to rent a car unless you have found charter bus service. Don’t try and cab it unless you are looking to pay roughly $300 American round trip fare!
Tickets
Make sure go through the Eagles or a legitimate insured and licensed ticket broker. Ticket forgery is huge in Brazil surrounding the soccer matches. The policy is “buyer beware.” You also won’t find many local police looking to help you correct a bad buying decision if you go that route.
Who Will the Eagles Play in Brazil?
You can rule out a divisional matchup. It won’t be the Cowboys, Giants, or Commanders. The NFL won’t make the Eagles lose a home divisional matchup. That leaves four options as Carolina and Jacksonville already have International Games scheduled. That leaves the Falcons, Packers, Browns, and Steelers as potential opponents.
