The Start To The Philadelphia Wings’ 2023-2024 Season
The Philadelphia Wings return to Philadelphia 1-1 after splitting on the road. Unfortunately, Wings captain Blaze Riorden is out for four to six weeks due to an injury on the road trip. The Wings hosted their home opener against the Albany FireWolves on Saturday, December 16th. But despite the Wings’ 15-10 loss to the FireWolves, there is still plenty to look forward to this season. Things like the continued emergence of Mitch Jones.
Mitch Jones re-signed this summer to a two-year deal. He joined the Wings last season, and his 44 goals and 82 assists gave him the 3rd most points in the league, 126.

Sat down with Philadelphia Wings forward Mitch Jones tonight. Jones talked about his excitement for tomorrows home opener and I quizzed him on Philly based words. @NLLwings https://t.co/CXODvsje7P
This is the best team he has played on in his career, and probably his best chance to win it yet.

I also asked Jones about what it is like to play for Paul Day. Day is the first general manager and head coach in Wings history and has helped the team gain success during his time in Philadelphia. “He’s been coaching for a long time and knows how to get the best out of his players.’ Jones said. “He’s a true players coach.”
Jones has embraced Philadelphia, even though he is originally from Canada. He has even nailed the Philly accident, saying things like “wooder.”
Finally, I asked him what he wants fans to know about him. “I like to smile,” he said with a smile. “I like to have a good time. See you at the Wings games.”
