The Flyers’ Successful Road Trip Gaining Five Out Of Six Points
The Philadelphia Flyers had a successful road trip, gaining five out of six points. The Flyers won back-to-back games against the Pittsburgh Penguins before setting out for a Central Division trip in Arizona, Colorado, and Nashville. The Flyers’ drastic shift in momentum has been more noticeable in the past month. Above all, Head Coach John Tortorella has been pleased with the team’s effort this year as well and rewarding some of the younger players with more ice time.
4-1 Win In Arizona
Philadelphia was able to snap the Arizona Coyotes out of their five-game win streak. The Flyers and Coyotes had 28 points heading into Thursday night’s game. The Flyers scored in the first period for the first time in eight games. Travis Konecny was the first goal scorer in that opening frame, and Joel Farabee was the second. The scoring for Konecny didn’t stop there, as he got his third short-handed goal of the season in the second period. Cam York enhanced the lead in the third period with the Flyers’ fourth goal. The Flyers won 4-1 and were off to Colorado.

5-2 Win In Colorado
The game against the Avalanche was the most exciting game of the season so far. Konency was able to open the game by getting a goal two minutes in to set the tone for the high-scoring contest about to take place. Owen Tippett and Travis Sanheim gained two more goals in the second frame. In the final frame, Konecny had a successful penalty shot for this 16th goal of the season.

Thirty seconds following the successful penalty shot, Farabee gave the Flyers a 5-2 win. With Philadelphia gaining four points, it was off to Nashville to look to pick up their final victory.
OT Loss In Nashville
The annual dads trip took place for a game in Nashville. Morgan Frost’s dad Andy Frost is one of the great PA announcers and radio personalities. Andy did the honors of giving the pregame lineup.

However, the Flyers fell behind 2-0, nearly going scoreless throughout two frames. Sean Couturier gave Philadelphia life by getting a goal with seconds remaining in the second period. With some life, Sanheim could equalize the game at two a piece in the third period. The Flyers gained a point going to overtime but lost within the first 20 seconds.
Looking Ahead
The Flyers are third in the Metropolitan with 33 points after their successful road trip. The New York Islanders are above Philadelphia, and the New York Rangers remain in first place with 39 points. The orange and black are looking to return to the win column on Thursday as they host the Washington Capitals. With the halfway point nearing it’s evident that the Flyers have been making head turns with their recent winning. A lot of speculation that this would be a bad season for the orange and black with the few off-season moves and new management in place. The bottom line is that the Flyers are playing as an above-average team. The trade deadline approaching in Marsh does still stir up conversation about who will be dealt with. Right now, the Flyers’ biggest problem is still their power play unit, which assistant coach Rocky Thompson making adjustments to during practices.
