If the 8-1 Eagles Aren’t That Good, What NFC Teams Are Better?
Sunday aged me. That Eagles game was one of the most aggravating and exhilarating contests I’ve sat through in a long time. Inevitably, you will hear people tell you that an 8-1 Eagles team really isn’t that good.
I think that’s a load of garbage. If you tell me that one team isn’t good, you need to tell me who is! Let’s look at the suspects!
Detroit Lions (6-2)
Losses: Seattle Seahawks, at Baltimore Ravens
They have been the surprise story of the NFL season so far, but I’m not sure they can sustain it.
The Lions won’t face the Eagles during the regular season, and they have a very favorable schedule in the 2nd half. All Eagles fans should wish that the Lions trip up in a game soon to create a little more breathing room. There are very few position groups where they are potentially better than the Eagles, but you don’t want the top seed to slip away.
Dallas Cowboys (5-3)
Losses: at Arizona Cardinals, at San Francisco 49ers, at Philadelphia Eagles
The Cowboys fans are going to try and convince you they are better. Nonsense. The Eagles find ways to win, and the Cowboys find ways to lose.
They already have dropped three games. All three have come in the NFC, where the Eagles are unbeaten at 6-0. They are 2-3 on the road and 3-0 at home. The threat level is high, but if they have to be road warriors, don’t count on them.
San Francisco 49ers (5-3)
Losses: at Cleveland Browns, at Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals
The 49ers are leaking oil. They enjoyed their bye week to try and regroup.
We aren’t hearing anymore that Brock Purdy is better than Jalen Hurts. He never was. The Eagles will have the opportunity to take out the 49ers themselves in early December. Having them come to the Linc in January is important.
A schedule fluke has their two matchups against the Seahawks games sandwiched around the Eagles game. That is favorable.
Seahawks (5-3)
Losses: Los Angeles Rams, at Cincinnati Bengals, at Baltimore Ravens
The Eagles travel to Seattle in December coming off a huge road game at Dallas. The Seahawks lost tough road games and could give the 49ers a battle. A couple extra losses would knock the NFC West teams out of top-seed contention.
