NFL Insider Provides Update on Dallas Goedert Injury
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys to stay in the driver’s seat in the NFC East. However, the victory came at a cost. Ian Rappaport provided an update on an injury to Dallas Goedert. The sixth-year tight end expects to need surgery to a repair a fractured forearm.
He will undergo additional MRIs for confirmation, but he likely faces a four-week absence.
Dallas Goedert Injury
Goedert landed on his arm along the sideline after a third-quarter catch on Sunday.
The injury will most likely mean the fifth consecutive season that Goedert misses time. He missed five games in 2022.
Injuries in the secondary have handcuffed Sean Desai and the Philadelphia defense in the first half of the season. The health of the defense looked much stronger entering Sunday, but now the offense has the bug. Nakobe Dean additionally suffered a foot injury in the victory.

Eagles Offense
Goedert has caught 38 passes for 410 yards in 2023. The tight end screen and the short passing game showcase his physicality and ability to run after the catch. The ability to unleash Goedert as a weapon behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith provides a luxury to the Philadelphia offense that very few NFL teams have.
Grant Calcaterra is out of the lineup with a concussion. His history of head injuries doesn’t indicate optimism that he’ll recover quickly. Jack Stoll is a serviceable blocking tight end, but he doesn’t provide explosive ability as a receiver.
Albert Okwuegbunam played his first six snaps with the Eagles in Week 9. The 6-foot-5 tight end caught 54 passes in three seasons with the Denver Broncos before the Eagles acquired him in August. He’ll never see a better opportunity to prove himself.
Jalen Hurts is also dealing with a bone bruise on his knee that has limited his mobility.
