The Miami Dolphins Hype Is A Mirage

I’m sure by now you’ve heard that you should hide under the covers because the amazing Miami Dolphins offense is coming to town on Sunday. Excuse me if I’m less than intimidated. Here are a few facts, not opinions, to let you concentrate on the Phillies and stop being fed a false horror story!

The Dolphins haven’t beaten a winning team.

5-1 is a fantastic record, until you really examine it. Do you know they have played the worst competition in the NFL in their first six games? Oh, they did play one winning team on the road. They went to Buffalo and lost by four touchdowns.

How bad has Miami's competition been?

How about historically bad? The five teams the Dolphins beaten have a combined record of 5-24. That’s a .173 winning percentage.

Tua is amazing…right?

Look at Tua Tagovailoa and his career win/loss record. When he's healthy, the Miami Dolphins offense has dominated bad teams. He doesn’t have many pelts on the wall of the most dangerous offenses or opponents. The Eagles are one of those types of teams.

That Dolphins defense has got to be awesome, right?

Well, you would be mistaken. The Dolphins have given up fewer points that only six other NFL teams. They are in the bottom 25% of the league. So they don’t play great competition and still give up 26 points a game. Bet the over, NOW.

The Eagles will have some extra motivation.

Do you think that Nick Sirianni has the full attention of his squad this week after the debacle against the Jets? I’m calling for the Eagles offense to have their top performance of the season against Miami. A loss like that tends to bring good teams together.

If you want to see Michael Myers in the shadows, feel free!

I would be much more scared of the Eagles tripping over themselves than the Dolphins bullying them. I’m predicting that all the fun we have been having at the stadium complex will continue on Sunday night. This postgame Monday will seem much different than it did this week! Go enjoy the NLCS with less stress!

The Philadelphia Eagles lost their undefeated record in Week 6 of 2023 NFL season against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Their first loss of the season won't ruin their playoff chances, but their Week 7 starters will look a little different due to injuries to key players.

The defending NFC champs will face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football in Week 7.

Philadelphia Eagles Fall to New York Jets

The Eagles didn't put together flawless performances in the early weeks of the season. However, they entered the matchup against the Jets at 5-0.

Jalen Hurts threw three interceptions, including a costly pic to Tony Adams that set up the game-winning touchdown. Dallas Goedert and D'Andre Swift also made costly mistakes that contributed to the turnover plague.

The Philadelphia defense kept the New York offense in check, especially without key contributors like Darius Slay and Jalen Carter.

The loss of Lane Johnson early in the game stunted the offensive momentum. Jack Driscoll replaced Johnson, who will get news about a potential high ankle sprain this week.

Projected Philadelphia Eagles Week 7 Starters

The Eagles face serious injury concerns. Avonte Maddox is already out for the season, and the revolving door of reserve defensive backs has its fair share of injuries. Slay could return against the Dolphins, but the status of Reed Blankenship is now in question.

Fletcher Cox returned against the Jets after missing the Week 6 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Nakobe Dean returned to the field Sunday for the first time since suffering an injury in Week 1. Nicholas Morrow still played 55% of the defensive snaps while Dean saw 49%. Zach Cunningham played 75%, and Sean Desai will have to manage the rotation moving forward.

Injury news will also affect the Eagles Week 7 starters, as news about Johnson, Blankenship, Slay, and others will drop throughout the week.
