VIDEO: Eagles Poised To Lose MANY Big Contributors According To Adam Schefter
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter joined the John Kincade Show to discuss all the goings on with the Philadelphia Eagles. Schefter joins the show every Wednesday for a weekly hit (8:20am) and mainly discussed the Eagles free agency and the struggle that the team, and Howie Roseman may face.
The Eagles have some top talent poised to become free agents next week. They include Javon Hargrave, Fletcher Cox, CJ Gardner Johnson, Brandon Graham, Marcus Epps, TJ Edwards, James Bradberry and others. So how many are gone? What will the Eagles do with the positions that are left vacant? Why didn’t the Eagles use the franchise tag on any of them? Adam Schefter answered all those questions.
“No surprise that they didn’t use their franchise tag,” Schefter told the guy. “I don’t think that they ever planned to do that… They’re in a situation where this team is going to have to be constructed differently. They had Jalen Hurts on a rookie contract. That deal is going to get done, I believe… You can’t afford the same number of players you did when he was on his rookie deal.”
With the Eagles poised to lose a lot of key contributors Schefter was asked how the Eagles would rebuild.
“The good part to this, is that when they lose the defensive talent that they inevitably will, they’ll get back picks… Then you start to draft good replacement players on rookie contracts… I’m sure there will be some free agent bargains hanging around that they can add as well.”
