A Users Guide to The John Kincade Show
by John Kincade
If you’re new to the show we are most certainly very happy to have you joining us! If you are a loyal listener since the start in 2021 you already understand that we have our own unique approach and quirks. I like to believe that ANY show on radio or television is an acquired taste. Some TV shows grab you by the lapels and demand your attention from the jump, but a daily radio show has to create memorable moments and earn your business on a daily basis to start, until you are willing to make a long term commitment. We are hoping that new listeners will be drawn to make us their top choice every morning. Having done this job for over three decades I certainly understand that sports radio listeners tend to wander. They sample various stations offerings and the trick is to get as much of your ear as possible. Here are a few things to familiarize with our show;
I act as the ring leader and tend to be the one who takes the most shrapnel. I set up most of the main discussion points each hour and we discuss them amongst ourselves before we open up the discussion to callers. We don’t have nearly as much caller interaction as any show you’ve ever sampled in local sports radio. We don’t have callers joining us multiple times a week and never do the “open phones” style of show. We hit multiple topics in an hour. We don’t set up a topic at 6am and ride it through the next 4 hours. The good thing for listeners is that if you don’t like what you are hearing you can expect the discussion to change gears quickly. Don’t worry, we are always talking about the most topical things in Philly sports but find a laundry list of different ways to discuss it.
I’m blessed to work with some interesting cast mates. Bob Cooney is a veteran of Philadelphia Sports coverage from his days with The Fanatic and previously with the Daily News. He’s an incredible analyst and one of the most reasonable sports minds I’ve ever known. Bob keeps me in check, often! Pat Egan is the little brother everyone has or might wish they didn’t. He is always there with a great passion for sports and a wise crack to lighten the mood. Connor Thomas is the host of the “Locked on Phillies” podcast and is the Swiss Army knife for the show. You never know what strange subject he will be getting into. Mike Ciaverelli is known as “Heavy Chevy” and he doesn’t have an ounce of fat on him. Don’t ask. The nickname works. He is your You Tube Director. He directs our TV broadcast every day on The Fanatic You Tube Channel. Subscribe and be a part of the action daily. You can go back and watch anything you wish after the fact as each show is there each day with 24/7 access. Eric Camille is “Coach”, obsessed with soccer and the guy who tries to produce and herd cats every morning. Pray for him.
It’s our intention to engage you in discussion and debate, entertain you as we bring you into our work and home lives and to make sure you come away daily with a laugh and a smile. We’re different. Thank you for trying us out. If you’re a longtime loyal listener, you know what to expect and we thank you for being an early adopter!
