Michael Vick Hopes His Son Can Turn Out like Jalen Hurts
Michael Vick knows a thing or two about playing under center for the Eagles. He spent multiple seasons here as the QB. And in one of those seasons, he put together an MVP-Caliber performance similar to what Jalen Hurts did this year. Earlier today Michael Vick joined the Anthony Gargano Show to discuss the Eagles being in the Super Bowl, how impressed he is by Jalen Hurts, his time in Philly, and more. Here is what Michael Vick had to say.
On Being Impressed by Jalen Hurts
“Jalen makes me want to go back and do it all over again. If I do it again, I am going to do it just like this. I’m going to keep my head down, work as hard as I can, make my teammates better, and be the best teammate I can be. I am going to do everything right while I have everything in the palm of my hands. He just greets you with confidence and leadership. It’s funny. As I watch him and his maturation process. I know his story, his dad was a coach and coached him. I prat that I am able to do the same thing for my son, and he turns out like Jalen Hurts.”
On Playing in Philly
“It was a warm embrace from the beginning. The cherry on top was that my wife is from Philadelphia. She had the chance to enjoy the moment just like I did… Instantly I fell in love with the city, the people, the restaurants, and everything the City of Brotherly Love had to offer. I look at it as my second/third home, I love coming there.”
On Playing for Andy Reid
“His door was always open. As long as you treated him with respect, he will give you the same. He didn’t take anything less than that. When coaches can differentiate between being your friend, your coach, your mentor, and your role model. When they can compartmentalize that, and put it all together, those are the ones that get the most out of their players and win on a consistent basis.”
