Ticketmaster Needs To Be Charged On War Crimes
This isnt Taylor Swift tickets. Im not a teenybopper looking to sing “you belong with me” at the top of my lungs….ok maybe I am. But I am also an eclectic guy who has no problem signing “bad blood” while finishing it with a “Go Birds.” But “Bad Blood” is exactly what Philadelphian’s have after trying to secure tickets to the NFC Championship game for this Sunday.
This was, and has been a problem all season long. Its just heightened because of the importance of the game. 2 tickets to the NFC Divisional round in the 200 level cost the consumer $1108.00. Not horrible. But thats when those scumbags jump in with their “service fees.” The fees were $353.43 for this transaction bringing the total to $1461.43. At a per ticket price of $554, that means that you paid 32% of an extra ticket that you never received because they charged you a fee for taking your credit card. So those tickets that appeared to be $554 not became $732.22 with the fees PER TICKET.
Fast forward to Monday when tickets for the NFC Championship game went on sale and fans were greeted to a horrendous customer experience. You got to wait in an online cue with 2000+ people. By the time you got to the front and found tickets that’s when they hit you with fees. Ticketmaster banking that fans would panic and pay not wanting to miss the opportunity/waste their time and walk away considering some waited 2 hours for the opportunity to buy tickets.
Most fans, when finally getting in found out that the only tickets available were from re-sellers. Who boosted the price. Its leaving many fans to question if any tickets were actually made available at 10am and who got them. Right now the 2 cheapest tickets on Ticketmaster will cost you a total of $1626.55. Costing $813.28 a ticket despite the ticket being posted at $660 each. Ticketmaster cashing in on a $306.55 “service fee” for the buyer, and hitting the seller with a fee as well.
We have bigger problems in this country than ticket conglomerates charging a ridiculous price for fees, but something needs to be done. Ticketmaster pays to be the official ticketing partner of the NFL and theyre recouping a lot of that money via these B.S. fees. But its gotten to be too much.
Can we go back to the days of camping outside the stadium to get tickets? At least there was a sense of community when that took place. Lets get back to the good ol days!
