Anthony’s Opening Diatribe- Anthony’s Thoughts on The Giants Matchup
See what Anthony Gargano’s Initial Thoughts on the Matchup with the Giants Are from his Opening Diatribe this morning…
“Giants week! We got an opponent. Full disclosure, I wanted the Cowboys. But the Giants are the next best thing.
Minnesota is a paper tiger, we knew they were a paper tiger. I did think Minnesota would win the game because I thought they would have enough offensively to get things done. Now I did not expect the Giants to put up that many points. The Vikings’ defense blows, but that was a great game plan they had yesterday.
My first blush is that this is a Gannon game. Because the Eagles should match up. Obviously what Daboll is going to want to do is control the ball and control the clock. The Birds are light years better than Minnesota defensively. It is one thing to have your way with the Vikings. They had their way in the secondary, they had receivers running wide-open. That won’t happen against the Birds.
They are not going to have success throwing the ball down the field as they did against Minnesota. The Eagles are too good. Their pass rush is much better, and their secondary is miles better. It is going to come down to the run game. You got the big hogs that you went out and got, Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh. That 5 man front will work. You have to get off the field. Against the Giants, I can’t have easy throws for 5 yards. I can’t have them move the sticks to start the game. I need them up on the line of scrimmage. You have to make it difficult for Jones. Daboll is going to want to run it, and have quick throws. If you are playing off the line of scrimmage, he will take that, I know I would.
The way to stay in the game with the Eagles is to limit their drives. And the way to limit their drives is to possess the ball. Which means taking whatever they can. I expect the Eagles to win, but the game could get scary. Not scary like you are going to lose, but scary as in it can get tight.”
