How I see Super Wildcard Weekend going
by John Kincade
The Super Wild Card Weekend features 6 games and with the Eagles holding the top seed in the NFC every one of these games is completely worth investing in to pre-scout the teams standing in the Eagles way. I do wish we would see people get a dose of common sense. No Eagles fan should be wishing for a matchup with the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round. There are 2 other options that are easier that could end up in their path. The Seahawks and the Giants are both the best interest choices for Eagles fans to advance. Why choose the more difficult path when the Birds are a wounded animal? I’ll be on underdog alert all weekend and Eagles fans with common sense are free to join me!
Here is how I see the games this weekend playing out…we will save the Cowboys and Bucs for Monday!
Seahawks at 49ers
The 49ers have been the hottest team heading down the stretch in the NFC. It’s obvious that they are potentially the biggest hurdle for the Eagles to maneuver. How great would it be if the Seahawks did that for them? The 2 teams played a very tough game around a month ago but the 49ers win both games they played this season. A reminder, before you say it, it isn’t “hard” to beat a team 3x in a season. The team that wins the season series 2-0 is actually more likely to win the third matchup than lose it. I don’t see any help for Philly coming here.
49ers 27 Seahawks 13
Chargers at Jaguars
I’ll be rooting for Doug Pederson to defeat the Chargers because I will always root for him unless he plays the Eagles AND because I believe the Chargers are the more dangerous team to face the Eagles down the road. Jax is a live home dog and I’m betting them.
Jaguars 24 Chargers 20
Dolphins at Bills
This is the blood bath of the weekend. The Bills are going to maul the Dolphins. I have little interest in watching this one. This is when you schedule your weekend nap.
Bills 37 Dolphins 10
Giants at Vikings
This is the most interesting and exciting game for me this weekend. I’m calling for the second upset of the weekend here. The Giants played the Vikings to 24-24 with less than a minute to play on Christmas Eve. A long field goal sent them to defeat but they moved the ball for over 450 yards of offense. The Giants are scrappy and the Vikings have a negative point differential. I’ll take a flier on the Giants to keep their surprising season alive.
Giants 31 Vikings 28
Ravens at Bengals
The Ravens won’t have their QB and they won’t have a chance. The Bengals will do enough to get in and get out quickly against the limping Ravens.
Bengals 27 Ravens 13
If Seattle wins we all have Saturday night plans. The same plan goes into effect if the 49ers win and the Giants defeat the Vikings. If not, the Eagles will awake Monday knowing that the Cowboys game at Tampa will determine their Divisional Round opponent that they will meet on Sunday 1/22.
