Anthony’s Opening Diatribe- Eagles are Immune to the Trap Game
See what Anthony said about the Eagles being immune to trap games in his Opening Diatribe this morning…
Those E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles with another amazing win. They have all but clinched everything. Home field throughout. Obviously the NFC East. One more win, or win more loss by the Cowboys, and it is over. They are an amazing team. And they are immune to the NFL trap. I have never seen anything like it. We have seen teams like the Chiefs and the Bills, the NFL’s elites, and they’ve lost games. They have struggled with games. The Eagles don’t lose.
Yesterday was a tough spot. You’re on the road, in the middle of 3 straight road games. You have a division rival coming up next week for everything. You’re facing a team that is going to go balls to the wall, and who has nothing to lose. That is going to run the ball and kill the clock on you. They are immune to all of that. Yea the game was a little close, but let’s face it, that game was never in peril.
I have to admit when the Eagles win, and we watch Jacksonville comeback and the Cowboys lose, part of me was bummed out. I actually wanted them to win, because I wanted next week to mean something. And having the cushion, where it would kind of take a miracle for the Eagles to not get the 1 seed, it is easy to risk it. The game this week, Christmas eve day, that we have been looking forward to, doesn’t mean anything. In fact, you are probably best served to show nothing.
The next you would have to play the Cowboys would be in the playoffs. You don’t want to show them anything. You don’t want to put anything on tape. It would be nice to beat them. But if you lose there are no ramifications. I would rather lose to them and show them nothing. This way when I play them in the playoffs, if they get there, I have surprise tactics.
