Jeff Lurie deserves a round of applause for this 2022 Eagles team too!

JEFF LURIE DESERVES A HUGE ROUND OF APPLAUSE
When taking over an NFL franchise, many owners are more worried about making their mark and being heard from than hiring the right people, showing patience and letting them get the job done. Jeff Lurie breaks that mold. He hasn’t fallen into the cliche of the rich guy who wants to be the Coach or the GM. While we all praise Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts for this huge 2022 turnaround of fortune, remember the owner who picked the Coach. Yes, he doesn’t find the candidates necessarily himself but he is heavily involved in the selection process. Time after time Jeff Lurie knows how to identify a winner. Even Chip Kelly won 20 games in his first 2 seasons! This man hired Andy Reid when no other team even had interviewed him for a Head Coaching position. He took Doug Pederson when everyone around the NFL had huge doubts about whether he was ready. Now Nick Sirianni is his latest obscure rock star. It’s amazing. The eye for talent is impressive and Lurie deserves a round of applause for it. Oh, good job not firing Howie Roseman either when most radio hosts and callers had their pitchforks out for him. That patience has most certainly paid off!
NONSENSE TALKING POINTS NO LONGER APPLY TO THE EAGLES
I know it’s easy to slide back into old habits. It happens. Complacency sets in. There isn’t much of a reason to believe though that old habits apply to the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles. The chatter this week of a “trap game” is an insult to the body of work that Nick Sirianni has provided this city. The last thing we need to do is waste time wondering if a Sirianni team is going to show up to play. Why in the world would anyone be making that assertion? I went over the 31 games in the tenure of Nick Sirianni and I found 1 game where they were “not ready to play”. That game occurred more than a year ago when they faced the Giants in NJ. Yes, they lost a game as a favorite this year to the Commanders on MNF but it was errors during the game that caused the result. They actually came out ready to play and then mistakes caused the result to slip away. Trap games apply to immature teams and I know that this one could come back to haunt me, but the idea that the Eagles would overlook the Bears makes no sense to me.
