Turron Davenport Breaks Down the Eagles-Titans Matchup
The Eagles play the Titans on Sunday. And to get some insight into them, “The Best Show Ever?” talked to Turron Davenport who covers the Titans for ESPN. What can the Eagles expect from their AFC opponent? Will the Titans be able to stop the Eagles’ dangerous run game, and vice versa? Turron discusses that and more. Here is some of what Turron Davenport had to say.
On Derrick Henry vs the Eagles Rush Defense
“It can be looked at as a simple prescription. But I will tell you what, the Bengals were struggling to stop the run also. When a defense decides to focus on taking one thing away, it becomes more difficult. And that is what you saw in Cincinnati last week. I think there is a blueprint for the Eagles to follow as far as stopping the run. But there is a difference in personal in that you don’t have that nickel corner like Mike Hilton to send off the edge. He had 6 solo tackles, and a good 4 of them were on Henry.”
On The Titans Biggest Weakness
“I think the issue is with QBs that can run. Look at the Chiefs game. They held Kansas City to 9 points into the 4th quarter. And then Pat Mahomes broke contain. He found that edge and he hit it. And he ran for a TD. Look at Joe Burrow. Last week he had 32 rushing yards. A good amount of those happened when they were not disciplined with their pass rush. I liken it to National Geographic where you see the lions hunting a gazelle. One lion flushes the gazelle one way. The other lion is sitting there waiting. And then you have another one there to pounce.
It’s the same thing as far as a pass rush is concerned. If that is not coordinated, the Qb can find a crease. In this case when you are talking about Hurts that could be a 60-yard TD.”
