The Streak Is Finally Broken

The Flyers were on a 10 game winless streak that didn’t seem to have an end date to it; until last night. The Islanders came to Philly after beating the Flyers in Long Island this past Saturday. Unlike Saturday, the orange and black came onto the ice determined to win. This was the best team win the Flyers had this season despite their first few weeks of the season where they lead the Metropolitan.

While the Flyers’ 8-10-5 record seemingly is concerning; they played like a winning team last night. The most notable part of the game was how the defense stepped up and rallied to protect Hart in net. Hart has been the key staple piece to the team with having one of his best starts to the season, despite how the rest of the team was playing.

This season was not going to be a complete turn around from last season, but a start in the right direction. A good team win does go a long way and hopefully this will push the guys to play with consistent speed and determination to win.
The next couple games will not be easy as the Tampa Bay Lightning comes to South Philly on Thursday and the New Jersey Devils who are leading the Metro visit on Saturday. With these two teams being better than Philly it will be a challenge, but it’s not impossible since the Flyers did beat both of these teams earlier this season.
