Anthony’s Opening Diatribe- Team USA Wins
See what Anthony Gargano had to say about the Team USA win over Team Iran in his Opening Diatribe this morning below…
Yesterday was amazing. What incredible theater. I love sports. So I love just the idea of competition man. I absolutely love everything about it. And I got into the whole World Cup. I was reading up about the strategy element of it. We talked yesterday about how it would be a low-scoring game. Because Iran would play for a draw. And they would kind of turtle up. Back everybody in. So USA had to squeak one through. And they did.
What an amazing game. And then it opened up. The last 20 minutes of that match. Oh my god. And then extra time. It got dicey. Are they going to go to VAR? They are doing their box. That’s like us throwing the flag. They are doing the box. Because the dude takes a dive. And he is looking for the free kick. And he takes the dive, the Iranian dude. Yo dude. I don’t blame him, you are trying to get fouled. You are trying to get a free kick. it’s a big deal. But you could see, even the ref went play on. No VAR. They’re out.
But they got close man. There was the one header. They were buzzing. It was great theater. I gotta tell you. When you are watching on the edge of your seat, that’s how I rate a sporting event. No matter what the event is. If I lean in, and I leaned in yesterday. Leaned in over the last 15 minutes. It was gripping. It was great theater man.
