Anthony’s Opening Diatribe- No Such Thing as Negedelphia
See what Anthony Gargano had to say about the myth of negedelphia in his opening diatribe this morning…
Today we discuss something I brought up on the show yesterday. it’s my theory that Negedelphia does not exist. That is a made-up place. There is no such thing as Negedelphia. That is what I* truly believe. In my world, you cannot have the month of October with the Phillies, and be in a negative place.
You would not enjoy it, you wouldn’t enjoy the run. You would be constantly talking about why they aren’t going to win, they stink, and they are lucky. But it’s not negative. It was one of the greatest memories. I am still living off that memory. There is a video that I took after the Saturday Night game against the Padres. Where they fell behind 4-0 and came back. Everybody is singing the song. It was such a beautiful moment. Everybody was hugging and happy and joyous. All I kept thinking is that can not be negative. There is no such thing as negedelphia
What we are is manic. Manic is wild mood swings. And that we have. We definitely have wild mood swings. Like we can go from 0 to 60. The Eagles’ stuff off the game Sunday was more manic than negative. And when they wind up winning it smoothed some of that stuff a little bit…
I know this place, I love this place. And I have a really good understanding of this place. We are not negative people. We’re not monsters. We don’t have horns. What we are is extremely passionate. Extremely emotional. That is part of being an old east coast city. We are emotional beings. And because we care so deeply, we have manic mood swings.
