Flyers In Second Place After Five Games
By: Haley Taylor Simon
The Flyers are off to a stellar start after racking up four points on their first set of road games. This was a testament to how well they did at home after winning their home opener against the Devils and the comeback win against the Canucks.
Following the Flyers impressive win defeating the Lightning for the first time since the 2017-2018 season; the Flyers took their first loss of the season to the Panthers. Philadelphia did trail early on in the first 2-0. The orange and black answered back in usual form as they’ve trailed by two goals their past two games, and were able to tie the game at two in the second. in a change of events the 3rd period was dominated by the the Panthers who were able to get two pucks in the back of the net and take a 4-3 win over the Flyers.
This was the first game that Hart wasn’t in net; it was the Flyers’ backup goalie, Sandstrom. With only one game left in Nashville before heading back to Philly it was undoubtedly one of their best games after defeating the Predators 3-1.
Hayes and MacEwen gave the Flyers their first opening lead this season at 2-0 the end of the first. The second period was scoreless. The 3rd period Farabee with the assist by Hayes gave the Flyers a 3-0 lead. At the end of the third Nashville was able to sneak one puck behind Hart but were still trailing by two with a little over two minutes remaining.

Notably, one of the most beloved former Flyers, Oskar Lindblom, will return to Philadelphia as a Shark tonight. In July, Philadelphia bought out the remainder of the left wingers contract and a few days later he was picked up by the Sharks in a two-year deal with a $2.5 Million cap hit. Puck drop is at 7pm.
