Anthony Gargano’s Opening Diatribe- CBP Is The Philadelphia Zoo
See What Anthony Gargano Was Talking About In His Opening Diatribe Today…
“The Fighting Phillies come home today. Tonight CBP will be rocking. Citizens Bank Park Will be incredible tonight. The Ranger. Ranger Danger on the mound. I just can’t wait to see that ballpark rocking. Listen, Musgrove is good, he is legit. But I want to see Musgrove toe the rubber in the middle of the Zoo.
Years ago, they called Yankees Stadium the Bronx Zoo. It was crazy… I like the zoo with us for the stadium for the fans. The Philadelphia Zoo is a big deal. Our Zoo is menacing. It’s full of Lions and Tigers. That is the Zoo in Philadelphia. I want to see Musgrove in the middle of that zoo. With the red really towels waving, and the crowd chanting. The decibel level. You are getting alerts on your phone because the decibel level is earth-shattering, ear drum popping. That is what we have in store for game 3 tonight. We ain’t losing. We ain’t losing. That is the mantra tonight.
And it is all about the bats. You hope Ranger pitches well and keeps you in the game. That is my expectation. He will give you a good solid outing. But here is what I am thinking. They assembled the brutes for a reason. I smell the brutes coming to life tonight.
Now it could be Schwarber, could be some of the lefties, Harper, Stott, could be all those guys. I just smell the bats. But you come in and win tonight? You are up 2-1, and then tomorrow you have a bullpen game, and they have a bullpen game. The bats will decide it again. And then it is Wheels up on Sunday.
We wanted home-field advantage. I am not going to front, yesterday I was not happy. I was a little stunned. Like when you get punched in the face, and you are a little stunned. That is what I felt after losing the 4-0 lead with Nola on the bump. You have Nola and a 4-0 lead, my mind goes to you are playing in the World Series. So it was a punch in the face.
But then you come back and think about it, and all you wanted was a split. That is all you needed. Just like in Atlanta. And now you come home to this raucous crowd, let’s go. You have to win at least win 2 of 3. If you go back to San Diego needing just 1 of 2, I feel great.”
