The Audio Vault- The Best Home Runs In Phillies History
There are few things better than a home run. The crack of the bat. If it is by the home team, the instant roar of the crowd. Few other moments in sports can cause instant excitement in a single second. And the Phillies’ history is full of iconic home runs.
We have gotten a few such moments in this playoff run. Rhys Hoskins’ 3-run shot followed by the bat spike in game 3 vs the Braves. JT Realmuto’s inside the park hr in game 4. And then last night, the Schwarber bomb. He uncorked one into the right-field bleachers. It went 488 feet—the longest in the history of that ballpark. The ball left that bat at 120 miles per hour. The hardest a ball has ever been hit in the playoffs in the statcast era.
And so after that moonshot, Andrew Salciuanas saw fit to dive into the Audio Vault to pull some of the best HRs in the history of the Phillies. From the homers in the 1980 run, the 1993 run, the 2008 run, this year, and more. We are talking about the Victorino Grand Slam. Bryce Harper’s walk-off grand slam vs the Cubs in 2019. Lenny Dykstra’s HR against the Braves in the 1993 NLCS. Mike Schmidt’s 500th HR. Joe Blanton of all people hitting an HR in the World Series. Gary Maddox’s HR and bat flip in 83 before bat flips were a thing. Harper and Stott both hitting HRs to beat the Angels earlier this year. And more…
