Scott Lauber Previews the Phillies-Padres Series
The Phillies series versus the Padres starts today in San Diego. And to get the scoop on what to expect from them in the NLCS, “The Best Show Ever?” talked to Scott Lauber from the Philadelphia Inquirer. Will David Robertson be healthy? How do the pitching matchups stack up? What Phillies hitter can make an impact in the series? They talked about that and more with Scott Lauber. Here is some of what he had to say.
On The Status Of David Robertson
“Rob Thomson was asked that question yesterday, and he said in order for us to put Robertson on the roster, he has to be ready from game 1. Robertson threw a bullpen session yesterday, tested that calf a little bit, and they determined he was ready. So based on what he said yesterday, the assumption would be he is ready for game 1.”
On The Pitching Matchups
“They have felt, regardless of their record, that if they can get in, and get their pitching lined up in games 1 and 2, they feel really good… From the outside looking at the Padres, maybe their rotation is a bit deeper. But I don’t know if I would take anyone over Wheeler or Nola. They can have those guys start a minimum of 4 games in a 7 game series. So I think they are feeling really good about it.”
On What Hitter to Watch For In This Series
“I think Schwarber is a good name to focus in on. We know one thing for sure, and that is Rob Thomson is not going to move him out of the leadoff spot. That is oretty muchg iron clad. he doesnt really change his lineup much. But if they can get him going, with the way they hit against the Braves without getting a ton from Schwarber, it becomes an absolute gauntlet of a lineup.”
