Anthony Gargano’s Opening Diatribe- “It is Wheels Up in San Diego!”
Phillies-Padres Series starts tonight in San Diego. The Sixers season begins tonight. And the Eagles are 6-0. It is a great time to be a Philly fan. And you know Anthony was excited this morning. He got into all 3 things this morning when he opened the show.
See what Anthony had to say in his Opening Diatribe below…
“We’ve reached it, ladies and gentlemen. This is Game 1 of the NLCS tonight from San Diego. Wheeler! It is Wheels up in San Diego!
Listen we keep saying the same thing in each series. But when you start a series with Wheeler and Nola, that is a monster deal. That helps you immensely. If you can get that split, and we come back home to CBP evened up 1-1. That is great.
Padres are an interesting story because as you remember, they won the Trade Deadline. They landed Soto and Josh Bell. It was a big big day for them. And then they limped into the playoffs. After the news about Tatis and the PEDs, they were not the same. They wound up playing okay toward the end and securing a playoff spot. But much like the Phillies, they limped in.
They are going to be interesting. They have some good pitching. Darvish is really good. Blake Snell has electric stuff. But he is also prone to wildness. He pitched against the Mets in the playoffs in the Wild Card, and he wound up walking 6 guys. He is tomorrow against Nola. I love it. Wheeler and Nola. Wheeler was great against the Padres earlier this year. It is a Red October day.
But it is also a Sixers Day! Start of the NBA Season tonight, from Boston. I’m going to lose my mind. Sixers-Celtics tonight at 7:30 tonight from Boston. And I love them man. I think this is the year. It’s going to come down to Embiid and Harden’s health. Because if they are healthy, I love them. This is the year they make the run. They are deep, they have a bench. Maxey is playing otherworldly. Just in the Pre-Season, he is filling it up at will. I mean are you kidding me?
By the way, the Eagles are still 6-0. This is the most joyous time that I remember since I was a child and it was 1980 when all the teams were good. This is like sports heaven.”
