The Audio Vault- Phillies Beat The Braves in 1993 NLCS
The Phillies- Braves NLDS Series starts today! And to prepare us to face the Braves, we went back to a prior time the Phillies faced off with the Braves in the playoffs. Today’s Audio Vault celebrated the Phillies’ win over the Braves in the 1993 NLCS.
1993 was a special season for a lot of Phillies fans. There had been a decade-long playoff drought, much like there was coming into this year. the 1993 team was a ragtag group of players no open expected to be great. But great they were. Dubbed Macho Row, it was an interesting group of dudes, and there were many mullets in that Club House. But there was some odd magic to them. They made it to the NLCS and got past the Braves in 6 games.
They won game 1. Games 2 and 3 did not go as well. But then they roared back to win games 4, 5, and 6 to advance to their first World Series since the 1980 team. Of course, the season ended in disappointment with a Joe Carter walk-off blast off Mitch Williams to win game 6 and the World Series for the Blue Jays. But the team still holds a special place in many fans’ hearts. And the NLCS series was still a great series.
So today we pulled some of the best moments from the 1993 series out of the Audio Vault. Unfortunately, Andrew Salciunas was not in today to MC the Audio Vault like he usually does. But Ray Dunne filled in for him. So you can relive the 93 NLCS along with Anthony Gargano below…
