Anthony Gargano’s Opening Diatribe- Phillies vs Braves
Phillies vs Braves starts today. Game 1 in Atlanta. But do they have a chance? Anthony Gargano was feeling pretty good about it this morning in his Opening Diatribe. What has him feeling confident?
See what Anthony said about the Phillies chances vs the Braves in his Opening Diatribe below…
Let’s talk about the Fightin’ Phillies. Because at 1:07 today, it is Phillies and Braves. I can not wait for this game.
Now let’s talk about this for a second. Let’s face it, we know how good Atlanta is. I don’t need to give you chapter and verse on who the Braves are. They are a terrific team…
But they have been sitting. And if they have been sitting, what happens in baseball? Sometimes you get cold. The one thing about that sport, there is a huge difference between BP, and going live. When you have live pitching, guys throw 94, 95, and 96, trying to get you out, nothing prepares you for that. BP will help. But nothing will compare to live pitching. And that is a big advantage for the Phillies today…
The teams who have been playing in the Wildcard have the advantage. And this is what excites me about this series, it is 5 games. It is a short series. That is advantage underdog, that is advantage Phillies. All you have to do is steal one… If you can just win with Wheeler game 2, then you come home. Friday night is going to be a big night. Nola has been pitching fantastic. Citizens Bank Park will be crazy. You know how we get, you know how this town gets. If you can come home 1-1, and then win game 3 Friday night behind Nola, then you are up 2-1 in the series.
I take my chances, no matter what, if I have got to win 1 of 2. I don’t care if it is game 4 in Citizens Bank Park or Game 5 Sunday back in Atlanta. That is the mission. Split, and then win Friday night. And then you are in the driver’s seat…
That is what is scary about a short series. And that is what I love about the advantage for the underdog.
