Phillies Game Times For Wild Card Series Is Set
Monday night we learned that the Phillies would be in the playoffs for the first time since 2011. And now, we know when the games will be played. The Phillies are set to play The St Louis Cardinals in a 3-game Wild Card series from Friday through Sunday. All 3 games are on the road in St Louis.
Game 1: Friday, Oct. 7, 2:07 PM ET on ABC
Game 2: Saturday, Oct. 8, 8:37 PM ET on ESPN2
Game 3: Sunday, Oct. 9, 8:37 PM ET on ESPN2
The game 3 will only be necessary if the first two games are split. The Phillies won the season series vs this Cardinals team. But obviously, they have been scuffling a bit since October. The Phillies rotation is set to be some combination of Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, and Ranger Suarez. They enter the series the underdog, with the Cardinals set at -135 to win the Series. But of the underdogs, they have the 2nd best odds to pull out an upset on the road. It appears the Cardinals will throw out Adam Wainwright and Jose Quintana in the first two games of the series.
If they can win this series, they will advance to face the Atlanta Braves, who won 5 of the last 7 games the last two teams played against each other.
But for now, they have the Cardinals to get through in the Wild Card round. At roughly 2 pm on Friday, they will step onto the field for playoff Baseball for the first time in 11 years. Coincidentally, it was this team they faced the last time they were in the playoffs. And that ended with a Chris Carpeenter complete game shutout in Game 5. Lets’s hope it goes better this year for the Phillies.
