Joel Embiid Talks To Anthony Gargano at Sixers Media Day
It is Sixers Media Day! And Joel Embiid hopped on the Anthony Gargano Show to discuss the upcoming season, playing with Harden, his focus on defense, and more! Here is some of what he had to say.
On Focusing on Defense
“I think we got better. But you arent going to know until you go out and show it. That’s what training camp is for. To get everybody on the same page. And find out what it is going to take to win.. For me, I just want to focus on defense. And I hope everyone is on the same page, and we get the chance to be the best defensive team in the league. That’s my goal. And then share the load offensively… I believe everyone will have a big year. But our goals are aligned. We want to make it happen, and do whatever it takes to win a championship.”
On Not Winning MVP
“I don’t care. If it happens great, if it doesn’t, I don’t give a (bleep). You’ve got a lot of great players in the league. A bunch of people know basketball. But when you start talking about the nerds, that is when it gets… But I have nothing to say about it. Whatever happens, happens. That’s not my focus. As long as you have the best team in the league, someone on the team should be in the running for the awards. So my focus is on the team. to make sure we are the best, offensively and defensively.”
On Playing With Harden
“We still have a lot to learn. But I think we have the main piece. Our picks and roll is almost unstoppable. When you start playing against teams like Boston it gets harder to run those types of actions. But I do believe everyone is motivated, and that matters a lot.”
And he found time to praise the Eagles too
“The Eagles do look good. That defense, Jalen Hurts, ooof. They look good. I’m excited for the city.”
