Anthony Gargano’s Opening Diatribe- Monday’s Impact on the Fanbase
In today’s Opening Diatribe, Anthony Gargano discusses the profound impact he feels Monday’s Game had on Eagles fans, and what he liked from Hurts. Here is how he opened the show this morning.
“Monday’s game, I think had such a profound impact on the fanbase. Not just because they won, but because of how they won. In all phases of the game. They looked so good in so many ways. I think goes a long way to how we feel. Last week when they beat the lions it was a somewhat negative tone. But they looked at Monday night, and everybody said ‘Alright, they are good.’
And for me, it is about the long-term. Are they on the right path? And the answer is yes. The big story from Monday Night is the way Jalen Hurts played. If Hurts plays like that, he is the Quarterback no question. You can win, and win a Super Bowl, with Jalen Hurts playing Quarterback like that.
I have always said there are limitations with him, because of his arm and size. He has a big brain and a big heart. He’s the coach’s kid. He has all the intangibles. The intangibles that lacked here. Wentz had none of those intangibles. He was big, and he had the gun of an arm. But5, he didn’t have the brain, nor really the mental fabric. You watch Hurts, those players love playing with Hurts.
We talk about perfect quarterbacks. And obviously, the perfect QB is Josh Allen, Mahomes, and probably Herbert. Those would be the perfect QBs because they are all big, all have arms, and they all have mobility. Those are once-in-a-lifetime guys. That’s what we thought Wentz would be. But he didnt have the makeup. Unlike Hurts. What he lacks and size and arm, he makes up with intelligence. What you saw Monday was a Qb that understands pre-snap. Donovan didnt have the pre-snap thing. And he also was a little bit iffy with his team mates.
And that’s the difference with Hurts. If he plays like that, problem solved. That’s what really excites me about Monday Night.”
