Vikings Reporter Kevin Seifert Joins Anthony Gargano
It is The Philadelphia Eagles vs the Minnesota Vikings tonight on Monday Night Football. A game that has become an out-of-division rivalry ever since the two sides clashed in the NFC Championship game. And to break down the matchup, The Anthony Gargano show brought in from someone from the other side. Kevin Seifert covers the Vikings for ESPN, and he joined the show to give us the scoop on this game from the Minnesota side. What do they think of Jalen Hurts out there? What new wrinkles has Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell brought to that offense? They discussed that and more. Read what he had to say below.
How The Vikings New Offense Looked under Kevin O’Connell Week 1
“Basically what they did was came out in that first week and got Justin Jefferson wide open. He averaged like 4 yards of separation on his 11 targets. Which you think would be unheard of. You would think he is the guy you’d going to focus on defense, especially with all the hype this will be a much more aggressive passing team. He managed to scheme that out. It wasn’t just bad defense by the Packers. Defenders had to make choices, and they decided to single-cover him. He went on to have a career day. We are waiting to see now how the Eagles will respond.”
On How the Vikings Will Defend Jalen Hurts
“I know the talk in Minnesota all week has been what happens if Hurts get out of the pocket. Are they going to be able to maintain discipline? And in Philadelphia it is more when he doesn’t do that, is he going to be able to make the throws? I think the Vikings seem to be more concerned about what happens when he gets out of the pocket and off schedule. Not necessarily running the ball, but just creating more time for himself and his receivers.”
