Zach Berman Joins Anthony Gargano to Preview Eagles vs Vikings
On the second Football Friday of the year, Zach Berman of The Athletic hopped on The Anthony Gargano Show to discuss the Eagles. They got into what went wrong with the defense in week 1, a preview of Eagles vs Vikings, and the performance of Jalen Hurts. Here are some of the things Zach Berman had to say when he joined Anthony Gargano.
On the Performance of the Defense
“It’s hard to defend the way the defense played on Sunday. What went wrong for me, I always look at situational Football 9 of 13 on 3rd down, 4 of 4 in the red zone. If you want to play a certain way you need to get off the field. And when they get do get to the red zone you need to hold them to 3 and not 7. I can’t keep hearing about the philosophy of the defense if the execution isn’t there. And the other thing that concerned me was the lack of pressure. For the investment that the Eagles have made, they need to get to the QB more. It’s not an adequate excuse to suggest that the opposing QB is getting rid of the ball quickly. That suggests that the coverage and the pass rush are not married well enough.”
On Jalen Hurts
“Jalen is an elite running quarterback there aren’t that many quarterbacks frankly in the NFL history who have put up the running efficiency and running production that he has.”
Preview For Eagles vs Vikings
“I could see the Eagles winning this one by a point, by two points. But if I was betting on it I would say take the Vikings by a point. I think it’s going to be a close game. I’m going Eagles 27 and Vikings 26 in a one point game.”
