Tim McManus Discusses The Eagles Ahead of Game 1
The Eagles season begins this weekend. And “The Best Show Ever?” talked to Tim McManus to get some answers to the burning questions before game 1. What is up with Miles Sanders’ injury? Will the Eagles be at a disadvantage because of how they handled practice if the preseason? What kind of offense will the Eagles run? They discussed all this and more. Here is some of what Tim McManus had to say ahead of game 1.
Updates on the Eagles’ Injuries
“Miles Sanders was the big one, but the good news for the Eagles is that he was back on the practice field last week. And today he was out there in full pads getting ready to play. So it doesn’t look like he is going to be limited. And then Jason Kelce was the other one coming off of the elbow injury. He was back at it today as well and signaled he was going to play. So outside of Andre Dillard, the Eagles came through the summer pretty unscathed.”
On The Eagles and Lions Very Different Pre-Season Philosophies
“On paper, the Eagles are the better team. There is no question about it. And if the Lions end up smacking them around, we are going to have a good idea as to why. And that’s because the Eagles took it really easy, country club setting, compared to the way other NFL teams operated, namely the Lions. The answer will unfold and tell the tale, dictated by how the results come out on Sunday.”
On Eagles Wanting a More Balanced Offense
“I think it hurts Jeffrey Lurie’s soul to be running as much as they were running. It is not what he believes in. He wants to be pass-heavy, he believes that is how you win at a high level. And I don’t think they want to operate like they were last season. So the offseason signals that. AJ Brown comes in and gives Hurts his best friend and one of the top weapons in the NFL. Hurts has been working very hard to improve his accuracy and timing. And they want to be a more balanced team… Last year against the Lions is when they went run based, and they had a ton of success. I don’t know if they will be getting totally away from that, but they want to have more of that rhythm pass game.”
