Phillies Select Justin Crawford 17th Overall In The MLB Draft
The Philadelphia Phillies welcomed the future on Sunday night by selecting Justin Crawford 17th overall in the MLB Draft. Crawford is an outfielder from Bishop Gorman High School (a powerhouse) in Las Vegas.
He is 18 years old, 6’3 at 175 pounds. He is committed to LSU but at this point it would be a surprise if the Phillies didnt sign him.
On the baseball scale (with 80 being the top) ESPN’s analysts projected him to reach 55 on the hit scale, 45 on the power scale, 60 on the field scale, 45 on the arm scale, and 80 on the speed scale. Its also worth mentioning the experts say his speed is already at an 80, so he can flat out fly.
Does the name sound familiar? It should. Justin Crawford is the son of 4 time All-Star Carl Crawford. His game reminded a lot of scouts of his father. The decided to go high ceiling with this pick as he may be slow to develop but if he is anything like his father he will project as a top of the order bat.
