Phillies Top Prospect Andrew Painter Promoted To High A
The Phillies future is on the move.
The Phillies #1 prospect Andrew Painter has been promoted to High A Lakewood where he will join the Phillies #2 prospect (Mick Abel) in the Lakewood rotation. This move wasnt handed to Painter, he earned it. The former 13th overall pick in last years draft DOMINATED in Clearwater (A ball). In 9 games with the Threshers Painter pitched 38.2 innings and gave up just 6 earned runs.
At the moment his ERA sits at 1.40. He also struck out 69 batters which is insane. This promotion probably could have come 2 weeks ago.
While the Phillies system has failed to produce top level talent, the future (at the moment at least) appears to be bright. And you can see it in Lakewood New Jersey
