It Feels Like Nick Castellanos Is Going to Fit Right In Here
By Dylan MacKinnon
Nick Castellanos Had his introductory press conference today, after signing with them last week for 5 years, $100 Million. And man did he impress. His attitude, his personality, it seems like he will have no problem fitting in here in Philly. Not only was he funny and charming, but he said all the things you want to hear from a player on your team. He seems committed to winning. And he seems to understand who Phillies fans are, and what they want.
Here is a small collection of some of the highlights of some of the best moments in his introduction to Philly Fans.
On Wanting to Win Games That Matter
“I’ve played over 1000 big league games, and I have 0 zero playoff wins. Do you know what I’m saying? So cool I’ve made money, I’ve hit homers, I’ve played on Tv. But I haven’t won any games that matter. So I would like to do that.”
On Doing Whatever It Takes
“Whatever the team needs, I have a Phillie hat on. I don’t know how good of a pitcher I will be, but whatever they need.”
On Phillies fans
“If you’re playing well they are going to let you know, if you suck they let you know. I can live with that.”
On Describing His Mentality At The Plate
“I think the best way to describe it is survival right. This is how I feed my family. I don’t have a college degree, I hit baseballs.”
On Relationship with Bryce Harper
“I’m excited to be team mates with Bryce again. We won a gold medal together in Venezuela in 2009… Bryce also played a part in getting this done. So thanks to him… Extremally talented, and even back then he knew how good he was. So I’m excited to play with him.”
