Jalen Hurts To Start
When the Eagles play New Orleans on Sunday theyll do so with a new QB. Jalen Hurts, the teams second round pick from Oklahoma, will make his first career start. The moves sends Carson Wentz to the bench.
Eagles’ HC Doug Pederson is naming Jalen Hurts his new starting quarterback and the rookie will start Sunday vs. the New Orleans Saints, sources tell @mortreport and me. Carson Wentz now will backup Hurts.

Hurts came into Sunday’s loss against Green Bay and sparked the offense. He even threw his first career touchdown pass to Greg Ward on a beautiful touch throw

So the Eagles, who shocked everyone by taking Hurts, have now found themselves in a pickle. There are three options moving forward for next season
1) an open QB competition heading into next season. We’ve seen what drafting Hurts did Wentz’ confidence. But this seems like the most logical move.
2) Showcase Hurts for a trade. When they drafted Jalen Hurts many thought they would showcase Hurts in case of an injury. Even the most staunch Wentz haters never foresaw a scenario where Wentz would be benched for poor play. But that is where we are at. This upcoming stretch could be an opportunity to show other teams what Hurts can do and then look to trade him for assets.
3) Use that top 10 pick that the team is sure to get and use it on another QB. Build the factory! Because you know what’s better than 2 quarterbacks in a controversy? THREE quarterbacks in a controversy!
