U2 Donate €10M to Ireland’s COVID-19 Efforts
U2 stepped up in a big way to assist in their native Ireland’s efforts in battling the coronavirus pandemic.
Per Irish outlet RTÉ, the band donated €10 million (equal to $10.9 million USD) to the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE.) Ireland received its first shipment of PPE from this donation over the weekend with the help of Avolon, a local aircraft leasing company, who loaned one of its planes to Health Service Executive, Ireland’s Department of Health.
Among the items in the shipment were one million disposable gloves, 40 ventilators, about 60,000 goggles and 20,0000 face masks.
