Markelle Fultz Speaks for Himself
All summer long we’ve been peeling through grainy social media videos for any glimpse of Markelle Fultz on the west coast working on his shot.
A video posted today on The Players Tribune with Markelle and Isaiah Thomas sheds some light on some of the questions fans and media have had all season, with answers given straight from Markelle himself. Some highlights from the interview:
Markelle addressed the issues with his shot saying;
“There was a lot going on with changing shots and all this..and there was an injury there.” He goes on “Once I realized I couldn’t do stuff to my full capacity, I was like it really is something so I had to find out what it was. We did that throughout the season, it took a long time which people really didn’t understand, they thought I was just being soft but I mean, it was really an injury. Now, I just got a chance to sit down and pick apart all these doctors, we figured it out. I’ve been back to work this summer and everything is back to even better than what it was so right now I’m real excited to just go out there and showcase my full ability. It’s gonna be a surprise really, that’s why you don’t see me on social media right now posting videos of me shooting and everything. I want it to be special, you know when I come back. I want to have people guessing. This is gonna be good.”
He then goes into his expectations for this season and what the fans can expect;
“My goals just to have a great year really. Sixers fans are going to get someone that’s going to come in and play hard. I think I’m gonna be that guy who can create shots for himself and his teammates. That guy at the end of the game when you need a bucket you don’t really have to call a play. I’m gonna get out there on defense. Most people don’t know that I like to block shots. I’m gonna be a big point guard out there. Just come in and prove myself and show why I belong in this league.”
The fans are ready for Markelle Fultz. His shot, his defense, everything. During the incredible playoff run last year, there was one big question looming over every game; “What would this game be like with Markelle?”. Finally, fans and media will get to see. We can’t wait.
