Eagles-Chiefs Preview: 7 Predictions For A Super Bowl Rematch
We have waited since April to finally see the Super Bowl LVII rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs. The anxiety level seems far less than I expected, mainly because of a very impressive 8-1 start for the Philadelphia Eagles.
With a perfect 6-0 mark in the NFC and also a 3-0 mark in the NFC East, a win on Monday Night Football feels like gravy to me. If the Eagles win, I believe the race for the top spot in the NFC is over. If the Eagles lose, it’s a non-conference loss, so the pressure won’t be as bad. Here are some things I expect you will see tonight.
Jalen Hurts will be ready for Prime Time…again!
Jalen showed me in Super Bowl LVII that he was ready to duel a guy like Patrick Mahomes with all the pressure on his shoulders. Tonight won’t pale in comparison. Watch Jalen shine!
DeVonta Smith will be the Eagles leading receiver.
A.J. Brown has gotten all the headlines. Tonight it will be DeVonta Smith time. He will benefit from the attention that Brown will demand. I’d bet over 1.5 receptions for Julio Jones too.
The return of Cam Jurgens will bolster the run game.
The run game has struggled without Cam Jurgens. He’s back tonight. I’m expecting the best rushing performance in a month from a variety of the backs. D’Andre Swift will be a factor by rushing and pass receiving.
Nick Sirianni will coach aggressively looking to make a statement.
Nick showed he wasn’t afraid to roll the dice, even in a big game. Tonight is a stage where he needs that confidence. No field goals tonight, Nick! I think he’s heading to the tables with a ton of cash!
Eagles Special Teams won’t let them down.
In the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, a terrible punt and poor punt coverage left the Eagles defending a first-and-goal situation. This year, the special teams aren’t a weakness. Tonight, they will be a strength.
The Eagles won’t turn the ball over.
What have Jalen Hurts and his teammates heard about since last February? The turnover that Jalen and DeVonta both say cost them the Super Bowl. You can’t gift a team like the Chiefs seven free points. Ball security must improve in the second half of the season, and I’m betting it starts tonight!
The Chiefs though will turn it over twice!
The Eagles will snag an interception in the first half and recover a fumble in the second half. It’s time for the secondary to step up and make an impact. Tonight is the night. I’m betting on a Bradberry interception as a bit of redemption in this Super Bowl rematch!
Two-point conversion is good.
