I’ve Got “Invasive Thoughts” About All The Philly Teams
The steroids in my cancer treatments have me a bit on edge. Sleep deprivation is real and can lead to a lot of moments where doubt sets in. No, not doubts about my recovery but doubts about my beloved sports teams! Here’s a few things that are bothering me that may seem logical or crazy to you!
WINNING RUN AT THE PLATE, DON’T GET THROWN OUT ON THE BASES TRAILING IN THE 9th!
Trailing by 2 in the bottom of the 9th the Phillies managed to get Alec Bohm, who represented the winning run to the plate, in the bottom of the 9th. Instead of having a few chances to win with runners on 1st and 3rd they decided to have Bryson Stott attempt to steal 2nd. Look the other way, avoid the car crash. Stott is thrown out and the Phillies rally is killed.
Watching fans defend the decision reminds me of the Family Guy clip where the guy argues with the donkey about whether Kevin Bacon was in Footloose. It’s dumb. You don’t get thrown out in that situation, but Bryce created it by surviving his poor choices where he should have been thrown out at 3rd! This team is horrible on the base paths. They are a good team, but they play sloppy, dumb baseball too many nights. You can’t survive that in October.
JAMES HARDEN “IS WHO WE THOUGHT HE WAS”
Well, he is who SOME OF US thought he was! After watching his unprofessional behavior in Houston and Brooklyn I was not a believer that this guy would come here and find peace. He is a mercenary. He is not the selfless, veteran leader you would hope could come in and help win a title. Did he make Joel Embiid better? Sure, he compiled lots of stats. How did those stats translate to the pressure of winning in the playoffs? It didn’t and that has always been his hallmark. He reiterated that he wants to be in LA. I’d help him pack. He’s written his own resume and we see the results.
EAGLES FANS: SOMETIMES YOUR BAD THOUGHTS ARE GREAT NEWS!
As training camp arrives I feel so great about the Eagles front office, coaches and roster that it is somewhat unnerving. As a lifelong Eagles fan it is rare to have such blatant confidence in everything green. That is the result of Nick Sirianni proving himself in his first 2 seasons. I had serious doubts and he has dispelled every one of them. Two new coordinators are definitely question marks, but I’ve grown to trust. Andy Reid earned that kind of confidence in him but there were always dumb decisions that drove me crazy. It’s ok for Eagles fans to accept that this team SHOULD be expected to end up in Las Vegas with a chance at redemption. I don’t see where anything less should be acceptable. That’s a high standard, but this great organization and talent set it. I can’t wait to see this 2023 season unfold!
THANK YOU
I appreciate everyone reaching out with well wishes as I do my chemotherapy. I try to answer every note and your support is so appreciated!
