Brian Dawkins Talks Passing on Kyle Hamilton, Trading For AJ Brown & More!
Eagles legend Brian Dawkins will be BACK in town May 17th and 18th for his Brian Dawkins Driving Impact Charity Golf Outing. B-Dawk joined the John Kincade Show to discuss the event and the soiree the night before. While the discussion did have to do with the charity event, the conversation went into the Eagles and what they have done so far in the offseason.
The Eagles have a hole at the position that Dawkins played, safety, and had a chance to take a pretty good one in Notre Dame’s Kyle Hamilton. While Dawkins would have loved to see Hamilton in Eagles green, he also likes what the Eagles did on draft night.
“I love chess pieces; I love positional guys that can do more than just one or two things… that can do a whole gamut of things in the secondary, but also are play makers. But I will give them credit for doing what they did up front by getting the big 2 [Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean] from Georgia, I mean I think that will help that defense tremendously when they earn the right to step into the starting lineup”
The big move on draft night was the acquisition of AJ Brown. A move Dawkins loved.
“It brings a whole lot of swagger, but I hope we don’t lose our personality, because we became a very physical football team last year; very physical running the football. I hope we don’t lose that in trying to throw the ball all over the yard. Yes, getting the ball to your playmakers in different ways is possible, but I hope we don’t lose that or the identity we developed as far as being a physical punch you in the mouth football team.”
