Airlines Add Extra Flights to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX
Major airlines are adding over 3,000 seats with extra flights to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome on February 9.
Delta is taking the lead by adding 1,300 seats between Philadelphia and Kansas City routes. They’ve set up two direct flights from PHL to MSY for February 7 and 8, with flights back on February 10.
United is matching that by adding 1,700 seats with 10 non-stop flights. They’re running three direct flights from PHL to MSY on February 6, 7, and 8.
“We can’t wait to see our planes packed with midnight green as Philly’s biggest football fans flock to The Big Easy for America’s biggest sporting event of the year,” said Josh Flyr to TravelPulse.
JetBlue is joining in from New York airports. They’re adding two extra flights from Newark Liberty on February 7, and two more from JFK – one each on February 7 and 8.
Budget airline Frontier is also helping out with a February 8 flight from Philadelphia, with a return trip set for February 10.
For Kansas City fans, Delta is offering one non-stop flight from MCI to MSY on February 7. United picked February 7 and 8 for outbound flights, with two return options on February 10.
This is New Orleans’ 11th time hosting the NFL championship, tying the record for most Super Bowls held in one city. The Superdome itself has hosted seven of these championship games. This is a re-match of the Super Bowl LVI in Arizona two years ago, where the Chiefs beat the Eagles by 3 points.
