Anthony’s Opening Diatribe- What is Wrong with the Phillies
Anthony tried to figure out what is wrong with the Phillies in his Opening Diatribe this morning:
“I just dont know what is wrong with the Phillies. This team is good. I know this team has talent. But John said something this morning. He said I will know by the All-Star Break whether last year was the biggest fake me out in the history of pro sports. Whether that run last year was fool’s gold. Can I tell you? I don’t believe it was.
We all know baseball. Look at this team. Trea Turner is obviously struggling. No one foresaw him to be in this type of funk. This kid was a great ballplayer. It’s bizarre because he is not hitting, but he is even not fielding. He has been horrible. I don’t understand that. It takes me back to one of the greatest movies ever. With Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes, and losing your power. How in the world does Trea Turner lose his Super Powers?
Schwarber you know is a late starter. But it’s May 31st, it is time to kick it into gear. The rotation is starting to kick it into gear. Walker was good his last time out. You saw how great Wheeler was on Saturday. And last night, like I thought. Ranger looked really good. I don’t think there was any need to take him out in that spot. One of their problems is, they don’t do enough work in Spring Training with their rotation. That hurt them. They weren’t stretched out enough. You saw it over the first two months of the season. But the hitting is a mystery.
…
Senga has great stuff. But you have to go in with a plan against a guy like him. You have to be patient. he has stuff that dances. You cant be hacking at the first pitch. When he gets in trouble, you run his pitch count up, and you look at it. He will walk you. The Phillies’ plan last night was terrible. They are a dumb baseball team. And that is a mystery to me…
I don’t like Stott leading off. Dont like the way Topper has managed. I disagree with a lot of what he has done. The Phillies have to get this thing turned around quick.”
