Tyson Foerster Impressed In His First Stint Up In The NHL
Tyson Foerster, Flyers 2020 1st round draft pick, has impressed over his first eight NHL games! He recorded three goals and four assists for seven points. He finished with a +2 rating as well which is difficult considering how rough things can be defensively for this team. The NHL jump is no joke and to almost have a point per game during his first taste of this level is something to note. Here’s just a taste of what Tyson Foerster did in his first stint with the big club.
Just like Cutter Gauthier, Foerster has the ability to light the lamp. He showed that against Minnesota.

What an incredible shot.

Wow. Are you serious? What a release from that angle. He’s going to score a ton of goals in this league with that shot.
Foerster’s first NHL goal was also a rocket. He came down and fired it low blocker side for a moment he’ll never forget.

With a little bit of power play time, Foerster showed his ability to let a one-timer go and picked up an assist against Carolina. Smart play. Far pad. Shooting with a purpose. Looking for a rebound.

It wasn’t just his goal-scoring and point-producing that stood out though. Buying into John Tortorella and blocking shots will keep getting him the ice time he’s looking for.

The Flyers decided to send him down to Lehigh Valley to help make a push for the American Hockey League playoffs. In 58 games this season, Foerster scored 19 goals and 21 assists with the Phantoms. As much as I would love for him to keep gaining experience playing against better talent, I do believe there’s value in pursuing a potential playoff run in the minors.
